Celebrating 50 Years!
In April of 1959, Doug Mitten, an engineer, started a plastic production company under the name of Provincial Plastics. The company started with one extruder in the basement of an old woolen mill in Hespeler, Ontario, Canada, making small profiles for various commercial accounts. In 1961, Doug developed a patented process for bonding a flexible-vinyl glazing spline on the inside of a U-shaped rigid vinyl window sash section. His invention combined with in-house die making capabilites enabled the company to grow and evolve into the custom profile business, including the manufacture of vinyl siding accessories for various North American customers.
Today Mitten sells in excess of 1.7M squares. The market has continued to grow over the years and Mitten is proud to work with over 200 distribution partners throughout the world. A dedicated Mitten Sales Team devotes time and attention to these partners to foster successful business relationships and seamless transactions.
Project Picture Perfect
Mitten is proud of our quality products and we guarantee the long lasting beauty of every home sided with our products. In order showcase our customers' homes and our premium quality products, Project Picture Perfect has been launched in an effort to get some new, fresh photos. It will reward both the contractor and the homeowner for submissions worthy of professional photography. Should a home be selected, the homeowner will receive a $50 gift card to a local restaurant and could be entered into VSI's national awards program. Winners of the VSI Awards of Distinction contest receive a copy of the awards publication and the authorized Mitten contractor will receive a plaque in recognition of his installation excellence. The contractor also has the opportunity to win $1000 for entries chosen to be professionally photographed.
